Homemade Flour Tortillas (and chips!)

Homemade flour tortillas are a staple in our house, and they are so easy to make. All the ingredients can be bought from the bulk bin shop and are vegan. 


1 1/2 cups flour
1/4 tsp baking powder
1/2 salt
1/4 cup oil
1/2 cup of very hot water


Mix all ingredients together and knead for approximately 5 minutes to form a soft dough. Leave to rest for 15 minutes.

Cut dough into 8 evenly sized pieces and roll out very thinly on a lightly floured bench.

Heat a heavy-based pan and cook one by one on medium heat. Flip over once bubbles start to appear in the dough. They cook pretty quickly, so keep a close eye on them! Once cooked, keep them warm under a tea towel.

This makes 8 but we've started to double the recipe as they are so yummy and disappear pretty fast.

Tortilla Chips

Simply brush the cold wraps with some oil and season well with salt and herbs or spices - we used paprika but can't wait to try all sorts of other combinations!

Cut into shapes and spread on an oven tray and bake at 200C for 10 minutes until crispy.
